Sandwich Bread
This afternoon i decided to make sandwich bread , the dough was also called milk dough , other ingredients are pretty much normal , in your pantry ingredients . It turns out really good as home made bread usually are , better than store bought obviously it’s chemical free , since there is no preservatives in the bread itself . I also used honey instead of sugar , the bread turns out really delicious ! This might take a little time to make , but really it’s not bad at all , consider it a good workout for your hand if you don’t use the mixer . You can always…

Mountain Meatballs
Made these yummy meatballs from Jamie Oliver’s cookbook , one of my favorite chef . Seems like everything that i cooked from his recipes always turned out yummy . This was not exception , although i have to admit , i wasn’t sure about adding more than a cup of coffee into the sauce making . As it turned out , it was really good and i couldn’t even tell there was coffee mix in there !! The meatballs were a breeze to put together , they’re easy and since they’re humongous , they didn’t take much time to make at all . Unlike swedish meatballs , they’re tiny and…

It’s no secret that anything to do with lemons , are my husband’s favorite . That includes , lemon rice soup , lemon pie , lemon meringue pie , lemon yogurt cake .. anything lemon he loves ! Smothered Porkchops
Very easy recipe , and really quick to make . I love pork chops , they’re yummy and easy to fix . You don’t want to overcook pork chop or else you will end up with tough chops .. but if you cook it just right , they are really tasty . This recipe is easy and probably just need about 30 minutes to get it done .All the ingredients are pretty much on your pantry already , there is no special ingredients here . Next time i would add mushrooms in there , i think it will taste yummy too . I served this with rice , but i…

Southern Biscuit and Gravy
Home made buttermilk biscuit surprisingly isn’t hard to make ., esp, with the help of food processor , it’s so much easier to make this flaky biscuit . I made the biscuit along with the gravy and served with the sausage . No special tools is required to make the biscuit , if you don’t have food processor , you still can make this . You just have to work a lot quicker so that the butter won’t melt because of using hands , that is obviously warm in temperature . With food processor , we don’t have to touch the butter and mix the dough other than shaping and…

Easy Chicken Enchilada
I usually make everything from scratch , this time , i cheat !! Once in a while is okay to make life in the kitchen easier and simpler , right ? So this time , i am making chicken enchilada , my secret to make it a lot easier and quicker , is to use rotisserie chicken . My local grocery store has a yummy rotisserie chicken , and who wouldn’t love rotisserie chicken ? They have the most moist meat even from the white meat area . And i also use the enchilada seasoning mix from Mc.Cormick , i didn’t have to do too much of anything except just…

Kue Lapis Tepung Beras ( Traditional Layer Cake )
This is what we call layer cake in Indonesia . Unlike the layer cake with cinnamon and more like cake texture , this one was supposed to be the traditional type , made easily with coconut milk and rice flour , no spices whatsoever . They sell this in most of indonesian ‘tradional bakery’ , sometimes you can find them being sold in the ranch market too . They’re only good to be eaten for that day , you can’t save it for the next day since it’s made from coconut milk , and it is called ” kue basah ” if i translated that literally would means ” wet…

Lemper Ayam
Sticky Rice with chicken filling , called as Lemper Ayam is a traditional snack in Indonesia . I remember me and my mom walked to the market and stopped by after grocery shopping to buy this snack . This was her favorite , wasn’t so much for me . She really liked this , it was all wrapped up in green banana leaves . I never wondered how they made this .. i never thought i would have to try to make it myself . But living oversea pushed you to do things that you never thought you’d do . Even my mom never made lemper ayam herself , she…

Banana Bread
I made banana bread yesterday , it’s been a long time and i happened to have overripe bananas laying around on the counter . The problem with banana bread is , there are tons of recipes out there , throughout the years i’ve tried plenty recipes , sometimes i forget which one that tasted the best , and which one is the okay so so version . So going through my recipe box was tricky , i had to try to remember which one was this . But the one that i picked yesterday was the one without butter , so i considered it a little healthier version .. 😀…

Southern Fried Chicken
I don’t know why but during the end of the sermon this morning at church , just about a minute before the pastor let us all go home , suddenly i thought about fried chicken . No , not thinking about buying fried chicken , because that’s what we usually do , i don’t cook fried chicken , i know they’re easy but i don’t , just because to me it seems pointless spending about a gallon of oil just to fry chicken , not to mention , it is unhealthy . We usually settled with oven baked fried chicken , similar but not quite the same original fried chicken…

Thai Sticky Rice minus Mango
I love thai sticky rice , near the town where i live there is this thai restaurant that we occasionally go to . Me and my friends like to have lunch over there too , their price was very reasonable and they have a very yummy curry . But what i like the most was their dessert , thai sticky rice . I figured it shouldn’t be too hard to make , and so i googled it and i was right , it was super easy . As long as you have the sticky rice , and coconut milk , whether you have mango or not , it’s not a…

Sweet Red Bean Paste
When you go asian bakery , chances are you will find items with sweet red beans fillings . Growing up in southeast asia , i found one dessert with beans , but not red beans , so this is all new to me also . I thought red beans are only for main dish , who would have thought it’s also for dessert , esp. it’s very famous in asian bakery . I decided to put my red azuki beans to a good use over the weekend , i thought it’s not going to be hard to make . I soaked the beans overnight . I tried cooking it without…

Shrimp Creole
I like shrimp , i think they’re one of the healthy food that is packed with protein yet you don’t have to spend so much time in cooking them . In fact the longer time you spend cooking the shrimp , the chewy they get and in result , it’s not really that yummy . But cooking them quick is the key and i need this kind of meal once in a while . This time , we’re trying to make shrimp creole , i thought the taste was a little lacking , probably because i have the asian tongue that is looking for that specific blend from shrimp dish…

Durian Cake
Over the weekend we went to check out the other asian market in the same area where the korean market was located at . At that asian market , i was thrilled because i found so many indonesian items , just like the store that we used to go back in Chicago , a whole aisle dedicated especially for indonesian food . Well , anyway , i also found durian , which i was really thrill to see . The last time i had durian was about 4 or 5 years ago , yes it’s been a long time .So i picked it up and bought it .. This morning…

Vanilla Cup (cakes) w/ Frosting
Nothing beats home made cake , although you have to admit , those box cake mix , makes our lives a lot easier , not only they’re easy , they’re soft and yummy too . But i really don’t like using a cake box mix for some reason , to me , it’s not really a home made when you all have to do just throw in oil , water and eggs . The past few years i’ve been searching for a good vanilla cake recipe , or as you call it , white cake . I think i finally found one … This recipe is easy to throw together…

Strawberry – Rhubarb Crunch w/ Vanilla Ice Cream
I had never tried rhubarb before . From what i heard they go great when cooked with strawberry , and people said it has quite similar taste with strawberry . So it is full spring down south , and i figured it should be easy to find rhubarb , and it should be widely available . So yesterday when i went grocery shopping , my eyes was set to find rhubarb . I found them , those long red stalk , not to be mistaken with swiss chard by the way 🙂 But it happened , when i was about to pay for my grocery , the girl didn’t know…

DIY Tiered Flower Pot
Few days ago as i was browsing and wasting my time on Pinterest , i ran across this cute idea of making tiered flower pot . I thought why have i never thought about this before ? Of course we’ve seen in the a huge green houses , beautiful pots on top of pots with beautiful colorful impatiens or petunias or allysum . It’s just pretty !! So , yesterday i set my mind to this , i knew i had that 1 huge pot laying around doing nothing , then a small pot in the back porch that used to have basil before winter last time , now it…

Kimchi Fried Rice with Bacon and Shiitake Mushroom
When i made my kimchi , i made a big batch of it , so sometimes i felt like what should i do with this ? It’s like a kimchi overload happened in my fridge . My husband’s favourite dish with kimchi is kimchi stew , that was also my favorite . One morning i decided to try to throw together kimchi omelette , and that worked pretty good too , nothing to it , just beaten eggs , salt pepper and rice wine . This time i tried to make kimchi fried rice . As always my guidance is the korean food website Maangchi . Fried rice is everywhere…
