Fruit Tartlets
This afternoon i decided to make use of these strawberries we had in our fridge . It was cheap , i couldn’t help not to buy 3 pints of strawberries , only to wonder what else could i make with these strawberries !!! It was only $1.00 / pint , during winter month , who could’ve refused that ? Okay , it’s close to spring , but it was still cheap , even during summer months you can’t get $1.00/pint at the grocery store , except at the farmer’s market . I remember early fall last year i got 8 pints of strawberries and it only cost ms $1.00 for…

Spicy Noodle Soup with Seafood and Vegetables
Tonight’s dinner in our household is Korean dish , it’s one pot meal , since it has everything that your body need . I actually think this dish is pretty healthy , it has noodles , seafood ( i used squid and mussels ) and 1 piece of boneless chicken thighs . For the vegetables i had cabbage only on hand , the recipe ( from Maangchi website ) calls for napa cabbage too , but i don’t have them , and i don’t have white button mushroom either , so i only used the cabbage , and then the shiitake mushroom from the stock that i made , carrots…

Coconut Chicken
This is another easy dish to make for weekdays. The fact that it comes with a dipping sauce or just a sauce to spice up the chicken itself , is yummy , the sauce is made from pineapple preserve , i think you can always make your own pineapple sauce if you have fresh pineapple on hand , or when pineapple is in season , but the preserve is just comes in very handy . And i thought at first pineapple preserve with jalapeno and green onion was kinda strange combination , but it turns out to be delicious and perfect pair for the chicken cutlets . Instead of using…

Espresso Meringue
Made these meringues few times already , so easy yet so yummy . Most of the time i only have 2-3 pieces of them just because they’re sweet , i guess that’s why it’s called meringue !! I love this kind though because it has espresso in there , i used instant espresso , and since i loved mocha / coffee stuff .. this becomes my preference compared to regular meringue which nothing but sweet . Nick also loves this ,he requested it few times already for me to make them . Anyway .. make sure your oven is in the low temperature , and after finished baking them ,…

Spicy Fish Soup
I was going to blog about this couple of days ago since , the soup was made few days ago , but i kept forgetting about it . But this was about the fish soup , korean spicy fish soup . Bought red snapper , that was already cleaned and gutted by the fish monger , which was excellent , meaning i don’t have to make a mess in my kitchen , i don’t have to look around if there is any flying scale , or scale landing on my hair .. eww .. yes .. gross .. I love fish , but it’s just scaling the fish was the…

Classic Fruit Tart
Made this fruit tart this afternoon , well actually was planning to make it last night , but didn’t have enough time , we got home quite late , and fixing dinner quite late . But late last night i decided to make the fillings for this wonderful classic fruit tart . Most of the tart i saw used cream cheese as its filling , which i don’t care so much about . I love the vanilla custard that i made for eclairs , and i decided to make that custard as the filling for my fruit tart . The crust was a lil different than regular pie crust ,…

Garlic Rosemary Roasted Chicken Legs
Since we have so many chicken legs / thighs in the freezer , i’ve been trying to circle my dinner menu this week around that . And tonight i ended up with this garlic rosemary chicken legs , so easy and less mess . I love quick fix dinner that does not require too much mess , esp. when i have to handle everything myself . My dishwasher was already busy going , so i refuse to make a complicated dinner that require a lot of washing dishes or making too much mess on the stove . This was great .. just dredge , dip and roll , and bake…
