    Quick & Easy Beef Chili

Some nights , i’d like to cook something that is easy and healthy still . Well .. most of the nights i actually would prefer to cook something easy and quick anyway . Less dishes to do , and ready within 30 minutes or so . You know how good chili usually takes hours for the flavor to blend in . People would say you cannot make a good bowl of chili if you don’t let the flavor blends in . Well .. in my opinion , this quick and easy beef chili , doesn’t need hours for the flavor to blend in . Better yet , it is healthier…

    Garlic Cheese Bread Sticks

I looked at my fridge the other day and i saw this big ziploc bag that has leftovers levain from last week when i made sourdough bread . I don’t really like wasting food , and especially during this time when it is so hard to find flour anyway . And obviously i had made too much levain , i’d normally use this to make pizza . But we did too much cooking and baking the past couple weeks and pizza into the diet is just not a good idea at the moment . But i caved in , i didn’t end up making pizza , but my family loves…

    Chocolate Tahini Cookie

My previous entry was about ‘ not your regular peanut butter cookie ” . In my attempt to make peanut butter cookie slightly healthier so that we all can be happy and able eat 2-3 cookies at once , i replaced peanut butter with tahini . Tahini is  sesame paste , it comes in a jar , the regular grocery store probably carry it these days , long ago  I had to get it from middle eastern grocery store . But i saw it at Kroger not too long ago . I use this usually to make hummus . So today i wanted to make something with more chocolate flavor…

Not your regular Peanut Butter Cookies

I don’t know about you but i love peanut butter ! I can eat peanut butter and banana sandwich every single day . That’s like a treat to me ! On this rainy afternoon , i wanted to make peanut butter cookies , but it is only Tuesday . I can’t bake treats already ! So , i decided to experiment with a different kind of peanut butter cookies . Not sure ? trust me .. you wouldn’t regret this ! Yes it is healthier option of peanut butter cookies , but really .. it’s good ! If you searched online , what can you replace peanut butter with ,…

    Another Sourdough Adventure

Seriously , i think i need to mute some the groups i joined in . All these food related groups i belong to , i will start muting them this week . It’s only 2nd week of May and i think i have baked sourdough 3 times already . Yes i did an entry on sourdough few days ago , with higher hydration and using turmeric , The yellow sourdough .. Couple nights ago i was busy making another levain for what else ? Yes , for another sourdough .. i kept wanting to experiment and seeing if i can get a different result . Same method , after this…

    Nastar , Ananas Tarts

What is actually Nastar ? My American friends would wonder what is it ? They took a look at it and took a bite , all of them said it looks great , cute and petite and oh so yummy , mouth watering little cookies . Well , Nastar is Ananas Tarts . Ananas , i think is French for Pineapple . Indonesian calls it Nanas . Hence the word Nastar ( Ananas Tart ) Over 3 centuries Indonesia was occupied by the Dutch , and there were so many influenced over the 300 years in everything , including food and baked goods . How does it taste like ?…

    Sourdough Adventure continues ..

I swear ever since we have to quarantine ourselves back in March , I’ve baked more sourdough bread in two months than i would have in a year ! I looked at my pictures collection and last year i only baked either 2 or 3 times in a year for sourdough bread , and the same with previous year . Don’t ask how many times i did during the first year after i created the starter . But these past 8 weeks , I’ve baked 4 sourdough boules ! And all those 4 bakes , same methods , same recipes , probably differed in variety of the flour , like…

    Pineapple Jam

Last week i bought this nice size pineapple . I thought it was pretty good deal , $2 for one pineapple . I had pineapple tart in mind actually , that’s why when i was shopping , i paid extra attention if they had some pineapple . They did , they’re pretty cheap actually , . They were all still greens , there were no ripe pineapple , but that’s okay . Figured i was in no hurry , and it can ripe when it wants to . Fast forward probably a little bit over a week , i can see it started to ripe , it releases this sweet…

    My Sis’ Carrot Cake

Years and years ago my mom used to make this cake . I was young at the time but i remember it was actually recipe she got from my sister . My sister is 17 years older than me , and she’s a pastry chef , hence , the recipe my mom got from my sister . Long story short , back in Texas , i used to bake this quite often , it is yummy and it’s easy to make . I didn’t care much about the icing though , and i still don’t care for any icing for most cakes . I know i am weird that way…

    Healthy Strawberry Banana Muffins

Last week I posted recipe for the lemon Strawberry Banana loaf , that was really easy and yummy . After figuring out the macros for that one I tried to make an adjustment to the recipe so it’s not as high in fat . This recipe below is very similar to that with replacement on the oil . Macros per 1 serving is 25C 2F 4P Ingredients : 2 large eggs 145 grams sugar 1 ( single serving ) light n fit strawberry banana Greek yogurt 50 grams smashed really good ripe avocado 35 ml fresh lemon juice ( about half large lemon ) Splash of unsweetened almond milk (…

    Hamburger Buns

Beautiful Saturday in my area , we decided we should be grilling some hamburger tonight . Good thing , because i have been wanting to make hamburger buns . Last week actually i wanted to do this but with the rain in the forecast , it seemed pointless to make the buns when my husband couldn’t even grill outside . But today is a different story , it is beautiful , sunny 70 F weather here , i thought i wanted to bake cinnamon swirl this morning . I then got distracted by my knitting , so i sat there and as we talked , the hamburger came up in…

    Cheese Rolls

This one recipe in particular isn’t really a recipe LOL , and only for those of you who are comfortable enough with baking bread without measuring . Because this one doesn’t have any exact measurement . You won’t end up with too dry of bread if you already understand about ” smooth and elastic ” , or ” tacky ” dough . I’m going to share it with you guys anyway . I made this by accident few weeks ago , my son was asking for snacks , it was past dinner time , and i just fed my sourdough starter that afternoon . Heck i was already making enough…

    French Dip

Well the family asked for french dip for tonight’s dinner . I sort of figured that’s what they were going to ask anyway . French dip is pretty easy to do . I don’t make the beef myself obviously because really , actually there is nothing wrong buying roast beef at the deli counter . I am not ashamed of it . I am not a snob LOL .. So , there is no particular recipe to make this french dip , all you have to do is just to get roast beef from deli department at your grocery store . I bought Boar’s Head London Broil Roast Beef ,…

    Hoagie Rolls

Today is quarantine Day 47 .. after getting our morning walk , my husband went to his office upstairs to work and i went on to the kitchen to get busy doing things . Looking at things to do , i decided maybe i should try this hoagie rolls . I have never made them from scratch . This past week too , i actually wanted to make my own hamburger buns . But our weekend was full of rain , so hamburger for dinner is out of the question . So there it went my chance to make hamburger buns . This morning however i decided to try on…

    Sourdough Hokkaido Milk Bread

I love Japanese milk bread , or as known Hokkaido milk bread . I have the original Hokkaido milk bread posted a long time ago and it’s always been my go to recipe . I made it so many times over the years because it’s my family’s favorite . It is soft and fluffy and so easy to make , that one recipe though was using commercial yeast . Not that anything wrong with it . I still make them quite often . This one recipe is using sourdough starter as the natural yeast , i don’t add any commercial yeast . Make sure before using this the starter you…

    Marble Cake

This was one of cake my mom loved to bake when i was growing up . I remember she used to let me lick the leftover chocolate batter from the whisk . I think everyone had this experience when we were younger . I even let my child did the same thing when he was little too . The cake is moist , and it was always fun doing the swirl thing to create the marble effect . Ingredients here are nothing special , pretty much everything you have on hand , especially if you love baking . The ingredients listed self rising flour , if you don’t have it…

    Taco Seasoning

This taco seasoning is so good and so easy and quick to put together . You can even omit the salt for those of you who’s on low sodium diet . This recipe is enough for one jar of spice , that would last me quite a bit , as long as i don’t cook taco , enchiladas , or making carnitas everyday or every week LOL . I’ve used this recipe for regular chicken taco , which is cooked in slow cooker if i feel lazy , just dump the chicken breast , boneless , skinless with diced tomatoes and onion and rub with this spices all over .…

    Lemon Strawberry Greek Yogurt Cake

I was actually trying to bake another lemon yogurt cake when I realized that I don’t have anymore of vanilla Greek yogurt . Not like I needed another loaf but I needed the picture … Yeah like that was enough reason to actually turn the oven , make a mess and more dishes 🤦‍♀️ LOL But anyway I’m glad I did though , my husband and our son think this was much better than the one loaf i baked yesterday . So I’m going to share this super easy , no special equipment needed cake . All you need is just a mixing bowl , a whisk and a spatula…

Do i need to discard starter during feeding each time ?

Lately with the big craze over sourdough starter , i see so many questions about people hate to throw away discard , and they end up baking non stop . I totally understand and can relate to this . Long time ago i also was one of them , thinking oh my goodness i don’t like throwing away food and discard means you don’t need it . I better bake more !!! Why do we need to discard starter during feeding anyway ? Well .. we need to do this otherwise we end up with a ton of starter , from 1 small jar , we might end up with…

    Lemon Garlic Butter Seafood Mix

Tonight’s dinner I wanted something different . We’ve been cooking chicken breast daily , I started to get tired of it . So seafood mix was the one I’m thinking for our protein source . I usually do pasta with it but that too I’m not too hungry for . So I was thinking butter and garlic would be simple yet delicious enough for this . And then instead of serving it with pasta , I chose to serve this with toasted bread . But plain toasted bread would be way too boring . And so why not making bruschetta ? It’s been years since I had them . Maybe…
